Want to know two great ways to get people to click on your website in search results? Today’s Online Success Minute podcast tells you two key ingredients you must have on your website. I am Janice Gentles-Jones, your Online Success Guide.

With so many websites to choose from, how can you get people to click on your website if it comes up in a search results? According to Google one of the things that you can do is create better page titles. Page titles are an important part of the search results: they’re the first line of each result and they’re the actual links searchers click to reach websites. Also important is your page’s meta description. Google’s advice to webmasters has always been to write unique, descriptive page titles and meta descriptions to describe to searchers what you page is about.

If you don’t provide this information on each of your web pages, then Google will create an alternative title and description for your web page. While that may sound great, it’s not really the best choice if you want to be in control of what people will see about your website.

So my advice to you is go and check all your website pages and make sure you have descriptive titles and informative meta descriptions. Check with your webmaster if you don’ know how to add a title and meta description tag. The good news is if you’re using Joomla or WordPress you can easily add this information to all your web pages.

That’s it for today’s Online Success Minute. I am Janice Gentles-Jones your Online Success Guide. If you like this tip please share it on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and if you have any questions, please leave a comment on the website.
